Head Golf Professional
David Buono – PGA Class A, elected to membership in 2009. Began his golf career in outside operations at Grande Oaks Golf Club in 2000. Worked his way up to Head Golf Professional / Director of Golf from 2005 – 2010. Departed that summer to become PGA Golf Retail Manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Plantation to spend more time with his family. After 4 years at Dick’s Sporting Goods, he returned to the “green grass” golf business as Head Golf Professional at Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation. He is very excited to be at Lago Mar Country Club and will be a great asset to the team.
Director of Instruction
Emma Leonardi, Class A member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division has been teaching and working at Lago Mar since 1995. She grew up in South Florida after moving here from England when she was 10 years old. She played high school golf at Taravella High School where she earned a full golf scholarship to Florida State University. While playing in college, she earned a BS degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
After graduation, Emma played professionally for 5 years where she competed on the Women’s Professional European Tour, The Gold Coast Tour and The Futures Tour. During that time she played in some notable tournaments such as The Women’s British Open, the Women’s U.S. Open and The Evian Masters.Emma took a leave from Lago Mar to train in teaching at the Jim McLean Golf School at Doral, she returned to Lago Mar Country Club as the Head Golf Professional. After serving for three years at this position she became the Director of Instruction to focus primarily on instruction.
Kristen grew up playing golf in South Florida and was even a member at Lago Mar as a teenager. She went to college on a full golf scholarship at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA where she won two tournaments individually. After graduating she moved down to south Florida and turned pro and played professionally for a year. She joined as a summer member at Lago Mar, helped Emma with her camps and began working at Lago Mar at the end of that summer.
